...then we toured the Museum's fine collections including these Paleozoic invertebrate fossil specimens. These 'sponges' are actually Receptaculites and Isadites - enigmatic colonial structures - check them out on the internet!. In the previous image, the 4 round fossils at the top of the 'brachiopod' grouping are actually gum-drop shaped bryozoans named Prasopora.
